However, Khan is not popular as a Muslim name in USA. Most American people know the name "Khan" by notable historical figures such as Genghis Khan who was a Mongolian, or Khan Noonien Singh who was a Sikh. Khan is a Central Asian title which was adopted by certain Muslims in South Asia and is therefore know as a Muslim name primarily in India, Pakistan and Afghanistan. Since the movie is targeted mainly at the Indian audiences, it was considered acceptable that "Rizwan" gets into problem in USA because of his surname being "Khan".
